Lacrosse Falls to Lock Haven
BLOOMSBURG-- The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team lost to Lock Haven on Saturday by a score of 19-11.
After Bloomsburg scored just 38 seconds into the game on goal by Samantha King (Elkton, MD/Northeast), the Lady Eagles netted nine of the next 10 goals to lead 9-2 with 12:40 left in the half. The Huskies made it 9-3 with a goal from Kelsey Quigley (Lansdale/Methacton) with 11:26 to go before Lock Haven registered the next five goals to lead 14-3 at the break.
In the second half the Huskies got two goals from King and one each from Kim Springman (Downingtown/Bishop Shanahan), Kylie Matthews (Gilbertsville/Boyertown) and Sam Alexander (Willow Grove/Upper Moreland) to trim the deficit to 16-8 with 15 minutes to play. The Lady Eagles, though, scored the next three goals boost its advantage to 19-8 with 4:45 to play. Bloomsburg scored three goals in the final two minutes to make the final 19-11.
King and Alexander each finished with three goals each, while Matthews added two for the Huskies , now 8-4. Lock Haven, now 12-2, got six goals from Kayleigh Johnson.
The two teams also took part in Lax 4 Life, to raise money for a foundation that works with adolescent suicide prevention. A photo of the two teams after the game is shown below.
The Huskies host Shippensburg on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
